  Visited the SSA Palm Springs office in Ramon Road for an appointment on 8/17/17. It was a very pleasant experience. The firm but courteous Security Guard checked our bags and then directed us to the Self check-in machine. He even reminded us to click the YES button since we had an appointment. He was also repeating the numbers that came up ever so often, and helped direct the visitors to the correct window. The waiting area was brightly lit and generally clean. Even though it was crowded with no empty seats, it was quite calm and orderly. We were called within minutes ahead of our appointment time. Mr. Orduno, the officer designated for our appointment was very professional, courteous, and helpful. He was patient listening to our situation, explaining and advised the various options available. He also helped us process an application, quite painless and efficient. With so much negative reviews about SSA office and its staff, we just wanted to highlight a very positive and pleasant experience with them, and thank the Palm Springs SSA office and its staff for a great job providing assistance to ordinary citizens.

  Back in November 2013, while still living in San Diego, I got a call from Social Security. My permanent disability application had been approved and I would start receiving benefits. I told them I had just signed a lease on an apartment in Palm Springs. Would moving jeopardize my benefits in any way. No, I was told, simply contact the PS office when settled to make sure they received my file. When I called the PS office I was told only to call back if I hadn't heard from them in 6 months. About six months later I received a denial letter in the mail. I have been appealing and getting denied ever since. I hired a lawyer January 2015 and am still waiting for a court date. I am nearly broke, on the verge of homelessness and have continued to deteriorate rapidly since that first denial. My neighbor requested a court date 4 months AFTER me and has ALREADY been to court and been granted benefits. He is still able to get out and around, socialize, basically lead a normal life while I can hardly walk some days, live in constant pain and suffer from a multitude of debilitating physical and mental illnesses. Even my license was suspended for medical reasons in November 2014. DON'T EVER MOVE BEFORE YOU RECEIVE YOUR FIRST CHECK! DON'T BELIEVE A WORD THEY SAY OR WRITE ABOUT YOU. I don't even know who the person they describe in my rejection letters is! That person apparently is coping very well, leading an almost normal life, has a full support system, plenty of money and security with some occassional fatigue and pain. I WISH THEY WOULD INTRODUCE ME TO THIS PERSON BECAUSE THAT PERSON IS NOTHING LIKE ME. I have contemplated suicide so many times because of UNBEARABLE PAIN that has been unresponsive to treatments alone. Not even mentioning the TREMENDOUS STATE OF STRESS they have kept me in for over 3 YEARS NOW. DON'T EVER GIVE UP IF THEY TREAT YOU LIKE THIS. I WOULD NOT WISH MY CIRCUMSTANCES ON MY WORST ENEMY. It is not my fault that my body, mind and spirit have failed me. I have done everything they have requested of me. Provided all the documentation, medical and psychiatric opinions/recommendations. My neighbor had not even been going to see a medical doctor let alone any specialists. PLEASE, I HAVE BEGGED THEM TO ASSIGN ME A COURT DATE. PRAY FOR ME AND MY TWO LITTLE DOGS IF YOU WOULD BE SO KIND.
